Crab Type Hoist

Crab Type Hoist

The Crab Type Hoist is an integrated assembly of the hoist mechanism and cross-travel trolley mounted on a common structural crab frame. It runs on the top flanges of two girders in a double girder crane configuration. The crab design provides independent control of hoisting and cross-travel drives, delivering superior lifting precision and safety for heavy-duty crane systems.

Key Specifications

Parameter Details
Capacity Range5 MT to 200 MT
Hoist TypeWire rope, grooved drum type
Cross-TravelMotorised, dual rail, flanged wheel
FrameFabricated MS structural crab frame
Rope Falls2/4/8 falls as per load requirement
BrakingElectro-hydraulic thruster brake on hoist and CT
ControlMaster controller / Pendant / Wireless / Operator cabin

Technical Advantages

  • Dedicated Crab Frame — In-house fabricated MS crab frame ensures perfect drive alignment on the girder and eliminates structural flex under heavy loads
  • Independent Braking — Separate electro-hydraulic thruster brakes on hoisting and cross-travel provide smooth, controlled stopping with zero shock load
  • Ultra-High Capacity — 4/8 fall rope reeving configuration supports very heavy capacities well beyond 50 MT for ladle and transformer applications
  • Stress-Relieved Housing — Gear box housings stress-relieved after fabrication and machined on horizontal boring machine for precise bearing alignment
  • Modular Construction — All major components — hoist unit, CT drive, crab frame — are modular for easy on-site maintenance and replacement
  • Multi-Control Options — Compatible with master controller, pendant, wireless remote, and operator cabin for all crane configurations
